Incentives
1. Sign-up will be available by February 2008 on the
March for Respect website, and through group leaders at various organizations
and schools. REGISTRATION IS FREE.
2. Awards are $1,000 to the school and $1,000 to the organization that bring
the most participants and has pre-registered their group.
3. The top 3 registered Group Leaders who pre-sell the most event t-shirts and
family sponsorships will be eligible for a drawing for Southwest Airlines tickets.
4. Groups/individuals must be present at the March and the rally to qualify
for the incentive prizes.
5. The most spirited group will receive a trophy.
Groups
Sign up to be an official Group Leader to win $1,000
for your school or organization. Attend one of the Group Leader kick-off rallies
to pick-up your group leader packet. Individuals that will walk with your group
should be registered on-line. Registration is FREE. Group leaders who sell the
most t-shirts and family sponsorships will be eligible to win round-trip airline
tickets from Southwest Airlines.
Route
Watch for upcoming route information. The approximate
length of the route through Downtown Dallas is 1.5 miles.
Rally Before
A kick-off rally will take place just prior to the march,
and an awards presentation afterwards.
Information Fair
Approximately 50 Agencies and businesses will exhibit
at an Information Fair which will be held in conjunction with the March.
Other Activities
Games, bounce houses, a petting zoo and other fun activities
will be available at the March for Respect.
Minors
Minors and others who need assistance must be accompanied
by adults. Wagons, scooters, and wheelchairs may be used during the march.
Transportation
Riding the DART Rail to the West End is recommended.
Please arrive 2 to 3 hours before the beginning of the March to ensure on-time
arrival. When you arrive at your station, purchase a "Local Day Pass"
($3.00/cash only) from a ticket vending machine, which is good for round-trip
service all day.
Wheelchair accessible trains will be available at the Parker Road Station, the Bush Turnpike Station and the Arapajo Station. On any of these take the red line to the West End Station. (For more information, click here) If wheelchair space is full on the train, DART Vans will be available at these stations to supplement. One personal care attendant each may ride in the van. At the West End, the DART Van drop of and pick up site will be on the corner of Munger and Record Street, behind the old Spaghetti Warehouse. Area parking will be available for buses at no cost (with prior notice) on Hotel
Street and for personal vehicles at regular lot fees.
Food & Drink
Food and drink will be available for purchase from businesses
in the West End. Bottled water will be available, courtesy of Cadbury Schweppes.
Parking
Self-pay lots are available around the West End. Busses
can park and wait on Hotel Street between Memorial and Katy with prior notice.
Security
At least one security officer will be present on-site
at the event. Backpacks and coolers are discouraged. A police escort will be
provided during the march.
Weather
The event will be held rain or shine unless serious weather
conditions exist. If the event is cancelled, local media will be notified. Check
with your radio and television stations for cancellation notices.
First Aid
First-aid will be available on-site.
